If your farm is based in England, a quick way of setting up your fields (and field boundaries) is to use the RPA import feature. To use this feature:
- Either right-click on the desired farm name in the tree menu and select 'Import Field', or click the 'Data Exchange' tab as shown below.
- Click on the 'Rural Payments Agency' card.
- At this point you'll need to enter your Single Business Identifier (your SBI number). Click 'Check' to confirm the SBI number is recognised.
- Select if you are the farm owner or directly employed by the farm or if you are an agent (e.g. agronomist or contractor) and agree to the terms and conditions for the Ordnance Survey ‘Public Sector End User Licence'.
- Filter the incoming boundaries by land use category
- If you are not the farm owner, or do not know the names of the fields, you can choose to import all boundaries as new fields (the RPA reference will be used as the field name). Click 'Next'.
- At this point you will see a list of RPA fields and their boundaries. Click a boundary on the map to highlight the appropriate row in the table (or vise-versa) . For each RPA boundary you can choose whether to:
- ignore the boundary
- add the boundary as a new field (and enter a field name)
- add the boundary as a new field (and use the SP number as the field name)
- link the boundary to an existing field
- you can also choose whether the boundary should be imported as a field boundary or a working boundary. (the RPA boundaries usually represent the field, rather than working area)
- Click 'Import'.
